Krzysztof Penderecki’s 85. anniversary
Poster design for competition for Stowarzyszenie im. Ludwiga van Beethovena (September 2018)
______
This poster on the occasion of the 85. birthday of Krzysztof Penderecki - Polish composer and conductor - was submitted to a competition for the Jubilee Festival and came to the final stage of that contest.
Design presents a graphically simplified musical score symbolically and aesthetically corresponding to the subsequent stages of Krzysztof Penderecki's work and life. It encourages reflection on Master’s selected works, which were of great importance for the development of the history of music. The axis has been divided into 5 lines, each corresponding to 17 years of the composer's life. On that timeline I’ve put graphics that symbolise different Penderecki’s works. The parade begins with a representation of a triple win at the 2nd Competition of Young Composers of the Polish Composers' Union. Subsequently, the Victims of Hiroshima, St. Luke Passion, Symphony No. 1, Polish Requiem and Seven Gates of Jerusalem were marked. The colours of work are directly taken from Master's scores, which are inseparably connected with Krzysztof Penderecki.
